Hi!I Just purchased a super clean 2002 Savage from my friends dad.It only has 1000 mi on it. He had done the recommended oil/filter change himself. Is it necessary to have the first service done by the dealer? Are there any other major adjustments that would require me to bring it in to the dealer at this time? The bike seems to be running well. I even get the occasional obligatory tiny backfire when i kill the engine :) The only thing i noticed is a noise it makes when you put it into first. sometimes it makes a real loud "crrrclunk" as you put it in gear, the rest of the shifts are the(usual?)big click. Is this the norm for this bike? or does something need to be tweaked? There is also a very small brake squeak.
I am not complaining by any means, im grateful that my husband let me buy it in the first place. I just want to know what i can expect in the maintenance department. It seems for the most part you guys are all pretty happy with the bikes reliabilty and handling. I have been reading this site constantly for the past two days, and it has really been helpful. I feel a little more confident with my purchase. Also, what is the best tachometer to add? i think Suzuki really cheaped out in the gauges department. Anyway thanx in advance for any help!
